“I remember when our children were young, my husband and I struggled to get a good kindergarten that would nurture and prepare them to get a slot at Strathmore School (the primary school of our choice at the time).
We finally identified the kindergarten we were looking for but then things went south when it closed abruptly mid-year. The struggle for a good kindergarten was officially on again. From experience, I know the kind of pressure that parents go through when looking for a good kindergarten. They want a school that:
Aligns with their value system.
Offers quality education at an affordable price.
My vision is to meet my fellow parents at this point.
Initially, I had intended to build a block of apartments where the school is located (I have the construction blueprints), but I didn’t have peace in my spirit.
You see, I have a passion for children and it always saddens me to see them spending their childhood days in the balconies of apartments instead of making fun memories playing outside with other kids.
It’s even more heartbreaking to see young innocent kids getting rickets because they don’t have enough Vitamin D as a result of not getting enough sunlight…they are usually inside the apartments or playing in the balconies or corridors.
I didn’t want to be part of this problem that comes with concrete jungles. Instead, I wanted to do something meaningful that would impact humanity; to be of service to the next generation.
And so, after a bit of soul searching, I remembered how someone once helped me when I was looking for a good school for my kids; they provided one where my kids were nurtured and equipped with the skills to succeed in life.
I then had the eureka moment to start Ubuntu Junior Academy and help other young parents just as I was also helped several years ago.
But I desired Ubuntu to be much more than just an ordinary school, I wanted it to be a transformative environment where the unique God-given talents of every child are identified at an early age and nurtured into passion and purpose.
This to me is a noble way to be of service to my fellow citizens and humanity as a whole. One life that is transformed in Ubuntu can have a ripple effect that touches so many other lives in the future.
Had I been just after money, then I would have built the apartments. However, I have a passion for nurturing young children while ensuring they enjoy their childhood to the fullest.
This is why I want to partner with other parents by giving their children world-class education at an affordable price, in an environment that allows them to be children and that is a home away from home.
I welcome you to take a look around. I’m sure you will agree that Ubuntu Junior Academy is the right place for your child.”
